Paramount accident results in 1 fatality, multiple injuries

Multi-vehicle collisions can be especially dangerous for those involved, since they often involve high speeds and multiple impacts. Similarly, accidents that occur at intersections have the potential to involve oncoming vehicles and numerous victims. A recent car accident that occurred in Paramount, California, was expected to result in criminal charges because of the nature and severity of the crash.

Los Angeles authorities were expected to arrest one man who was reportedly being treated in an area hospital for injuries he sustained in a collision involving five vehicles. The man was accused of driving a pickup truck that was racing another pickup truck at speeds of up to 100 mph.

While the accident investigation was still reportedly underway, it was believed that the pickup truck caused the accident when it failed to stop at an intersection red light. The truck initially struck one vehicle, which collided with two others. The other person suspected of street racing and causing the multi-vehicle crash was accused of leaving the scene of the accident.

One person reportedly sustained minor injuries in the collision, and two others were admitted to area hospitals with serious injuries. A woman who was riding as a passenger in the first vehicle that was hit by the pickup truck succumbed to her injuries at the hospital.

Given the violent nature of some car accidents, victims and their families can experience profound hardships. People who have endured serious injuries and/or the loss of a loved one as a result of driver recklessness have the right to consider their legal options today.
