Huntington Beach accident kills bicyclist

No matter how many safety precautions bicycle riders take on the road, there is little that anyone can do to protect themselves from being involved in an accident with a drunk driver. The reckless and negligent actions of motorists driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs result in thousands serious injury collisions across the state of California every year. And those DUI incidents involving bicycles often prove to be even more catastrophic.

People who were present when the bicycle accident occurred in Huntington Beach recently reportedly came to the aid of the cyclist, according to responding officers. Unfortunately, however, the 55-year-old man died as a result his injuries after being transported to an area hospital for emergency medical care. The man who was driving the vehicle involved in the crash was arrested for alleged DUI after he was discovered by authorities near the site of the accident.

The fatal bike crash happened near an intersection in the early evening hours, and it was believed that the vehicle in question struck the accident victim’s motorized bicycle as they were both heading in the same direction. Nevertheless, the accident investigation was still underway and apparently involved incident reconstruction techniques.

Accident victims and their families are often left reeling from the immediate and tragic consequences of drunk driving. It only takes an instant for the entire lives to be altered forever. Anyone who has been personally affected by a DUI incident has the right to seek legal counsel and consider his or her options for pursuing personal injury claims.
