Investigation follows fatal Laguna Beach accident

Under the best of circumstances California roads are busy and under the worst of circumstances they are simply impassable. That’s why motorists must be ever vigilant of their surroundings and conscious of the fact that they share the road with bicycle riders as well. In the unfortunate event that a vehicle is involved in a bicycle accident, witness accounts are often a crucial part of the investigation to determine who, if anyone is responsible for the collision.

Laguna Beach law enforcement officers and investigators may be aided by the accounts of two individuals that witnessed a fatal bike crash that occurred recently on a highway, since they were reportedly behind the collision when it happened. According to law enforcement, a car was headed north on the highway when it struck a 55-year-old man riding his bicycle. The 19-year-old driver of the car did not immediately stop at the scene of the accident, but did pull over at an area elementary school.

The bicycle rider was transported to an area hospital for emergency medical treatment, but later succumbed to his injuries. Given that the accident was still under investigation, the names of the two individuals involved in the incident were not provided. However, authorities did state that they didn’t take any action against the driver of the vehicle at that time.

Bicycle accident victims and their families endure a great amount of physical and emotional distress in such cases. Obtaining the representation of a trusted personal injury attorney can help ensure that they receive the attention and compensation they deserve.
