5 injured, 1 killed in 8-vehicle accident

Despite the repeated warnings against drinking and driving, there are still those in Long Beach that choose to do it. Many do so with the mistaken belief that they can operate a car in a safe manner because they do not feel drunk. This can be a huge mistake and not only put the driver in harm’s way, but also everyone else with whom he or she shares the road.

Authorities in Fullerton, California are investigating a car accident that happened there recently in order to figure out if the driver was under the influence at the time of the incident. A man who was in his mid-50s was driving a pickup truck at a high rate of speed at around 4:00 p.m. when out of nowhere he swerved into the next lane and into oncoming traffic. He hit seven automobiles that were waiting at a red light and created quite a mess. His pickup truck ended up flipping over and landing on top of another vehicle.

Five people were injured in the accident, but non sustained injuries that were life-threatening. The driver of the pickup truck died at the scene. Authorities shut down a portion of the road for a period of time in order to clear away debris and conduct their investigation.

Those injured in this accident would be well advised to speak with a personal injury attorney about their case. They may be entitled to compensation for their medical bills, pain and suffering and the damages done to their vehicles.
