1 killed, 9 others injured by a driver on a Los Angeles boardwalk

When someone has the intent to harm another person, a vehicle can be a powerful weapon. When a serious car accident occurs in Los Angeles, local authorities must determine the cause of the accident. Occasionally, car accidents are used as an intentional way to cause injuries or death.

Ten people were taken to the hospital and one woman died after a hit and run driver crashed his vehicle through a crowd of people walking along a Venice Beach boardwalk in Los Angeles. The scene was described by witnesses as being something out of a movie or a video game. A 38-year-old man driving a Dodge Avenger allegedly parked his car along the boardwalk and studied the scene before getting back into the vehicle and plowing down as many street vendors and pedestrians as he could.

Of the people who were treated at the hospital, eight had minor injuries and two were in critical condition. According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, one of the persons in critical condition has since died; she was a 32-year-old Italian woman who was in California on her honeymoon. A witness stated that she was thrown on top of the vehicle as it was driving through the crowd around 40 or 50 miles per hour. The driver has been arrested for murder.

If you have sustained serious injuries in a car accident you may be entitled to compensation for your medical bills and pain and suffering. You may want to contact a personal injury lawyer to discuss your legal options.
