Witnesses testify against man after fatal California car accident

If you witness a car accident in California, local authorities may ask you to testify about what you saw. Doing so may help law enforcement officials, victims, and prosecutors find the truth about what happened in the accident.

Several witnesses testified against a man who was allegedly driving with marijuana, Xanax, and inhalants from a computer keyboard cleaner in his system. Many of the witnesses testified that a driver in a Land Rover was driving recklessly before a fatal car accident occurred on a California freeway on May 22, 2013. The driver’s behavior was described as erratic, as the Land Rover cut off other drivers and sped past their cars. One of the witnesses was able to identify the alleged driver. He saw the Land Rover cross the freeway into oncoming traffic and he saw the explosion that followed.

Another witness was driving westbound on the freeway when she saw a vehicle driving eastbound toward her. That vehicle was then involved in a head-on collision with a Scion, killing the 22-year-old man who was inside. He died of blunt force trauma injuries. The 18-year-old alleged driver of the Land Rover now faces up to 10 years in prison for charges of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and DUI causing injury.

If you have sustained a serious injury in a car accident, you may be entitled to damages for pain and suffering and your medical bills. You may want to speak with someone to find out your legal options. A lawyer may be able to help.
