Family pit bull mortally wounds boy in California

When people in California hear about fatal dog attacks, they most likely imagine one dog or a pack of dogs viciously mauling a human and biting them several times. They may also assume that the animals involved in the attack belong to strangers and have never interacted with the victim before. While it is true that many animal attack scenarios play out like this, the circumstances of some dog attacks are quite unexpected.

A 6-year-old boy was playing at the home of his extended family when he was bitten by the family’s pit bull mix. The boy’s aunt stated that the dog never have prior issues interacting with children. Additionally, neighbors stated that the animal was always happy and well behaved. The young boy and his mother were staying with the boy’s grandparents, his aunt and uncle, and seven cousins.

The boy’s mother and his uncle were at home at the time the bite occurred. The child was playing with the dog when it bit him on the top of his head. When his uncle saw what was happening, he grabbed the dog and it released the boy. Although the dog only bit the child one time, the attack was fatal. The fate of the dog is still uncertain; the family no longer wants to keep him.

This tragedy occurred with no warning. The young boy had no way of knowing that the dog would attack him. If you or your loved one has been injured in an animal attack, you may be entitled to compensation. A lawyer may be able to help.
