Long Beach crash involves emergency medical providers

Car accidents happen for a large number of reasons, but many of accident causes involve human carelessness. Drivers sometimes are in a hurry, will try making their way through traffic while texting and driving at the same time, or are driving aggressively and refusing to yield the right of way.

Long Beach paramedics were recently taking a patient to St. Mary Medical Center while driving in a southward direction along Atlantic Avenue. Though the fire department vehicle had its lights and sirens going, a truck nevertheless attempted to cross in front of it at Anaheim Street. A collision then ensued, and one of the paramedics was injured.

Fortunately, the paramedics injuries were non-life threatening. The paramedic and the patient being transported to St. Mary Medical Center were both taken to the hospital for treatment, but the paramedic was released later that same day.

There really is little excuse for not yielding to emergency vehicles. Certainly, there are accidents that occur that are unavoidable, but we do need to pay attention to ambulances, police cars and fire trucks that are dealing with emergency situations.

Many personal injury attorneys in the Long Beach area understand how these sorts of accidents occur, and also have a detailed understanding of local and state traffic laws. These lawyers can help individuals recover for injuries caused by the carelessness of others.

We live in one of the busiest traffic areas in the state of California. Drivers get impatient and take chances to make it to their destination sooner. However, such risk taking too many times results in car accidents that can be extremely serious. No one wins under these types of circumstances.
