Long time California physician killed in hit-and-run crash

We need to understand precisely who the victims of hit-and-run accidents happen to be. Recently, a physician that practiced medicine in the Newport Beach area for close to 30 years was killed in a bicycle accident.

This bicycle accident was the second fatality in the Newport Beach community in just a single weekend. The other fatality involved a 29-year old woman that was hit by a truck at the intersection of Pacific Coast Highway and Bayside Drive.

Besides being a physician, the victim in the hit-and-run crash also served as Chair of the Family Practice Department and held an elected position on the Medical Executive Committee. She served on various other medical boards as well during her entire time she practiced as a physician. She was married, and she and her husband were avid bicyclists.

It is almost impossible to estimate the loss of a family and community resulting from this type of death. We have a physician that has treated thousands of patients, and was described by many as being a wonderful human being.

In the meantime, police are continuing to search for the individual responsible for her death. Police are looking for a pickup truck that likely has a great deal of damage to the right front area of the vehicle.

Attorneys cannot bring such an individual back. However, such advocates can at least attempt to lessen the loss by making sure other individuals financially dependent upon such a person are able to receive some monetary compensation for what occurred - though such compensation will never be enough to make up for what occurred.
