Los Angeles bicyclist injured in hit-and-run accident

A 32-year old bicyclist in the Los Angeles area is still recovering after being struck by a hit-and-run driver. The bicycle accident occurred in the Central City area of Los Angeles.

It was reported that a pickup truck driver struck the bicyclist while traveling southbound along Central Avenue. An investigating police officer stated that the truck driver never stopped to assist the rider or to even determine whether he was injured. "He has some pretty severe head injuries," the officer was quoted as saying.

Plans are underway to check surveillance videos to determine if the driver of the pickup truck can be identified. If located, the driver could face felony hit and run charges concerning the pedestrian accident.

Though this type of accident is unfortunately common, such accidents present a number of problems in helping a victim recover. There are simply too many accidents of this kind for the police to investigate. And without locating the responsible party, alternate means of helping victims be reimbursed for wage loss and pay for medical expenses need to be sought.

Attorneys experienced in personal injury matters and with the resources to recreate accidents can often provide assistance to such family members. Such attorneys can focus more upon a single incident and may be able to locate those witnesses after police are forced to investigate other matters. Also, attorneys can often find ways of compensating the family - even if the hit-and-run driver is not found.

There really is no way to fully compensate a 32-year old victim in such an accident. At least some sort of financial compensation will perhaps lessen the impact of such injuries.
